After many years in leadership in the non-profit sector Mary Jo has recently entered the ministry of spiritual direction and is a spiritual director offering individual spiritual direction and group facilitation.

She received her formal training by completing a two-year “Contemplative Path of Spiritual Direction” program offered through Sycamore Spirituality Center, Inc., in Louisville, Kentucky. The spiritual direction training included classroom training and supervised spiritual direction with directees. 

Mary Jo also has extensive experience in contemplative dialogue facilitation and training. Contemplative dialogue is a group process that builds on common human experiences and assists individuals within a group to identify common ground where new understandings and actions may emerge. Spiritual direction and contemplative dialogue are both rooted in attentive listening and reflection upon the events of everyday life.

Mary Jo brings a rich background as a negotiator and trainer with national experience, a community developer, and an organizational leader, at the non-profit organization and board level, to her work as a spiritual director and group facilitator. Although her professional experience and skills have been integrated into the development of her spiritual direction ministry, the depth of what Mary Jo brings to spiritual direction, like any directee, is her own life experience and spiritual journey.
